Mercedes-Benz Concept EQG: The new Mercedes-Benz G-Class 100% Electric

Back

The off-road vehicle par excellence, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, since its inception in 1979 has always been a benchmark for off-road vehicles. In all these years its image has changed little from the first versions of Mercedes-Benz G-Class W463 1989 to 2017. In 2018, with the new and renewed Mercedes-Benz G-Class W463A / W464 version, the German firm wanted to renew the image of its off-road vehicle par excellence: a new image with more rounded lines, a very unique new front, and above all the new bodywork that makes this new model much more sporty driving, so much so that instead of looking like you're driving a Mercedes-Benz Class G, you're driving a sports car with a raised suspension. The new interior is totally different from previous models, with the striking unified display from the kilometer counter to the center console, the doors are no longer as thin as the thickness of a sheet of paper. And the front and rear seats provide that space of comfort and luxury so desired by many.

The new Mercedes-Benz EQG is scheduled to arrive at the end of 2023 to announce its sale in early 2024. The design of this new Mercedes-Benz EQG exudes futuristic technology in all its lines and finishes; Like the new front with a new grill (if we can call it that), since this model does not need ventilation for the combustion engine because this new version will be 100% electric. Where the front grille was previously we will have a new backlit grille, with a profiled methacrylate outer frame with LED lighting, the Mercedes-Benz star with LED lighting, and to finish the background with a panel for LED lighting.

Exterior design:

The exterior design of this new Mercedes-Benz EQG is faithful to the current design but with obvious differences: a two-tone paint, the front with this new backlit grill, the headlights (the same as in the current model) , the sides (with LED bands that run from the front wings through the front and rear doors, until they end in the rear wheel arches, which we will find at the back). We will not see changes in the lines of the rear lights, however we will observe a big change where the rear cover that housed the spare wheel was: we will find a Wallbox. What is this? A square box at the rear of the vehicle, whose function according to Mercedes-Benz can be a place to store the charging cables. This new Wallbox has a square design as if it were a charger with LED lighting running through its profiles.

On the roof of this new Mercedes-Benz EQG, we will find a totally new roof rack with a front LED bar, a rear LED strip and the central shape seen from above is a large G.

Interior design:

The interior design is very similar to the current Mercedes-Benz G-Class, which is to our liking, as it is a very comfortable and luxurious interior. The unified display from the kilometer counter to the center console, the same front and rear seats, the same steering wheel, and the same center console. The only difference at least for the moment: the interior colors, since this new EQG has been presented with a totally white interior, which we love, already makes the essence and intentions of this new EQG very clear, which is not other than sustainability with the environment.
